Caregivers’ Preferences and Need for Technology Assistance Study
Thank you for your interest in participating in this research study designed to help us learn more about caregivers’ needs and preferences for using technology. This will be accomplished via a survey that asks questions regarding what types of current technology you own, how usefull these are to you, and your overall satisfaction with your current technology use.
This study is targeting caregivers in the San Antonio community who care for someone with dementia. Participating in this study is completely voluntary. If you choose to participate, you will be asked to complete 1 survey that will take approximatley 10 minutes to complete.
Some of the questions we ask about may cause feelings of discomfort. We would like to make you aware of several resources should this occur.
Eldercare Locator. Eldercare Locator is a place where family members can search online or reach out by phone to learn about resources available for older adults and their caregivers in their community. You can reach ElderCare Locator either online at https://eldercare.acl.gov/Public/Index.aspx or by calling 1-800-677-1116. Be sure to check out the Eldercare Locater's Caregiver Corner as well!: https://eldercare.acl.gov/Public/Resources/Topic/Caregiver.aspx
Family Caregiver Alliance (FCA). The FCA is currently the host of the National Center on Family Caregiving. They have a number of resources online and offer some services nationally. FCA also hosts a state-by-state resource library, which you can access at: https://www.caregiver.org/state-list-views?field_state_tid=152 . (Use the drop-down option at the top to find your state!) You can also reach FCA by phone at: 800-445-8106.
Alzheimer's Association. The Alzheimer's Association has a wide range of materials and support options for those assisting someone with Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia, including a phone line that is staffed 24/7 (1-800-272-3900). You can find online resources and even in-person support group options at: https://www.alz.org/help-support/caregiving
We are grateful for your participation. If you have any questions while completing the survey, please email salinass1@livemail.uthscsa.edu or meyerk1@uthscsa.edu.
